Kevin Zito serves as Senior Instructor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he joined the faculty in 2011. He teaches primarily mathematics courses to STEM majors. His office is located at 437 Maxim Doucet Hall, and the department is situated at 217 Maxim Doucet Hall, P.O. Box 43568, Lafayette, LA 70504-3568. The departmental phone number is 337-482-6702.
Zito earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Louisiana State University in 2001, an M.Ed. in Secondary Mathematics Education in 2002, an M.S. in Mathematics in 2006, and a Ph.D. in Mathematics in 2009, all from Louisiana State University. His Ph.D. work focused on the area of differential equations, specifically semigroups of operators as solutions to Cauchy problems, under advisor Frank Neubrander. The title of his dissertation is Convolution Semigroups. Zito's research interests are semigroups of operators as solutions to Cauchy problems. Key publications include his dissertation, Convolution Semigroups, Louisiana State University, 2009, and the co-authored paper Chiquet, Ross A. and Jara, Patricio and Zito, Kevin W., Approximate solutions of Abel's equation using rational inversion of the Laplace transform, Neural Parallel Sci. Comput., 23 (2015) no. 2-4, 169–177. Zito's contributions reflect his expertise in operator semigroups and advanced solution methods for differential and integral equations.
