Dr. Kikruneino Sachu serves as the Head of the Department of Environmental Science at Unity College, Dimapur, where she joined as an Assistant Professor on January 1, 2019. She holds an M.Sc. in Botany, has qualified the NET CSIR Life Science examination, and obtained her Ph.D. from Nagaland University. Her academic interests center on Ecosystem and Plant Diversity Studies, and she teaches courses including Environmental Science, Environmental Impact Assessment, Disaster Management, Land and Soil Conservation and Management, and Ecology and Ecosystem. In addition to her departmental leadership, she is a member of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at Unity College and serves on the Board of Undergraduate Studies for Environmental Science at Nagaland University. She also acts as teacher-in-charge for the Eco Club and has organized departmental activities such as educational field trips and workshops on mushroom cultivation.
Dr. Sachu's research contributions include publications on orchid diversity and plant records in Nagaland. Notable works are: Sachu K and Puro N. 2017. Tipularia josephi Rchb. f. ex Lindl. (Orchidaceae): A new generic record for Nagaland. Pleione 11(2): 529-531; Sachu K and Puro N. 2018. Goodyera vittata (Lindl.) Benth. ex Hook.f. (Orchidaceae): A new record for Nagaland. NeBIO 9(2): 210-211; and Sachu K and Puro N. 2020. Plant diversity of Mt. Japfu, Nagaland, in Climate Change and Sustainable Development with special focus on Northeast India, published by NUTA, Nagaland University. She has presented papers at several conferences, including the National Seminar on Globalization, Development and Environment (2015), National Seminar on Inventory, Sustainable Utilization and Conservation of Bioresources (2016), International Conference on Natural Resources Management and Technology Trends (2017), State Level Workshop on Himalayan Knowledge Network (2022), and National Conference on Reviving Traditional Knowledge of Biodiversity Conservation (2023). Dr. Sachu has enhanced her professional skills through programs such as the Faculty Induction Programme (2020), Refresher Course on Data Analysis with Statistical Methods (2020-2021), and workshops on scientific writing, IPR issues, database designing, and environmental pollution abatement.
