Kirsty Lewis serves as Manager of Student Administration at the University of Otago, responsible for examinations, student records, scholarships, prizes and awards, and academic integrity. She is a key member of the Student Experience leadership team, contributing to the overall enhancement of student services. Lewis has been nominated as Director, Student Experience for the Committee for the Advancement of Learning and Teaching (CALT) and serves on the Staff Women’s Caucus Committee, supporting gender equity and professional development initiatives within the University.
Her career at the University of Otago spans various administrative roles, demonstrating a commitment to operational efficiency and community engagement. Previously, as Group Leader Student Administration, she led significant improvements to the eVision Change of Course process in 2021, eliminating lengthy queues and multiple approval steps that previously burdened students and staff. She noted that the changes provided a vast improvement in user experience. Earlier positions include Publications Supervisor in Admissions and Enrolment and Subject Matter Expert in Student Experience within the Shared Services Division. Lewis initiated the Staff Christmas Market in 2016 as a platform for staff to showcase creative talents, growing it into a larger event featuring handmade items such as jewellery, soaps, flax baskets, and knitted goods, eventually relocating to bigger venues like St David Seminar Room. She also organized the Midwinter Market in 2019 to extend these opportunities. By 2020, she transitioned leadership of the Christmas Market to another colleague. Her involvement extends to University Senate activities related to scholarships and policies.
