Dr. Kristin Kenrick is a Senior Lecturer and Acting Head of Department in the Department of General Practice and Rural Health at the University of Otago's Dunedin School of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine. She also serves as Associate Dean (Medical Education) and Director of Medical Education for the Faculty of Medicine – Dunedin. Her academic background includes qualifications of BMedSci, MB ChB, DipObs, and FRNZCGP. Throughout her career at the University of Otago, Kenrick has held significant teaching and leadership roles, including convening the fourth-year medical student attachment in general practice and teaching in the fifth-year rural health attachment. She is heavily involved in the Advanced Learning in Medicine programme for years four through six, emphasizing primary care skills to guide students toward becoming competent doctors. In recognition of her contributions to teaching, she received the Departmental Teaching Award from the Department of General Practice and Rural Health in 2018.
Kenrick's research specializations include coeliac disease in New Zealand, with a focus on recognition, diagnosis, and management; her PhD research has incorporated survey work and analysis of laboratory data. She pursues interests in medical education, particularly assessment, and research designed to inform and improve clinicians' practices in general practice.
