Dr. Kristin Meloche Sagedy, PhD, MSN, RN, CEN, is the Associate Dean of the Frances M. Maguire College of Nursing and Health Professions at Gwynedd Mercy University. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing from Wilkes University's Passan School of Nursing in 2020. Her dissertation, titled "Baccalaureate Nursing Students’ Attitudes Toward End of Life Care: The Impact of Simulation-Based Learning," examined the effectiveness of low-fidelity simulation-based learning in improving nursing students' attitudes toward end-of-life care. Prior to joining Gwynedd Mercy University, Dr. Sagedy held the position of Assistant Dean and Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Holy Family University, where she was appointed Assistant Dean effective August 1, 2021. She previously served as PTEW Program Coordinator, Instructor, and Course Coordinator at Holy Family University. Her clinical expertise includes critical care medicine, emergency management, resuscitation, intensive care, and pain management.
Dr. Sagedy's research contributes to nursing education, particularly in preparing students for end-of-life care. She presented her dissertation findings at the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Transform 2021 Conference in Dallas, Texas, during a podium abstracts session on December 3, 2021, highlighting simulation-based learning as an effective method and emphasizing the moral imperative to equip nurses for caring for dying patients and grieving families. In professional leadership, Dr. Sagedy was elected President-Elect of the New Jersey State Nurses Association (NJSNA) in November 2024 and installed on January 4, 2025, for a two-year term, after which she will assume the presidency in January 2027. Previously, she served as President of NJSNA Region 5. As President-Elect, she chairs the Institute for Nursing, a philanthropic organization funding nursing initiatives, and serves on the NJSNA Board and Executive Committee. She participates in key events including NJSNA Day in Trenton and American Nurses Association Day on the Hill in Washington, D.C.
