A/Prof Kyle Eggleton is the Associate Dean (Rural) in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at the University of Auckland. He also serves as Director of the Rural Health Unit and is based in the Department of General Practice and Primary Health Care. A rural general practitioner, his research focuses on health equity, primary care access and system performance. Eggleton graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He holds a Master of Medical Science, a Master of Public Health and a PhD. His doctoral research explored concepts related to measuring quality in Māori health. He has been promoted to Associate Professor in recognition of his contributions to research, teaching and leadership in general practice and primary health care. Eggleton’s award-winning leadership in rural primary healthcare workforce development and research is recognised in New Zealand and internationally. He continues to practise as a rural GP while advancing academic work in these areas.
