About Luke

Luke McGuire is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of Exeter. He holds a BSc, an MSc and a PhD. His research primarily examines the development of moral thinking in children and adolescents, with particular attention to moral development and speciesism. McGuire joined the University of Exeter in 2020 and has since contributed to studies exploring age-related differences in reasoning about the acceptability of eating animals and children’s openness to meat-free diets.

In 2025 McGuire received the Margaret Donaldson Early Career Award for his contributions to developmental psychology.
