Rate My Professor Lachlan Robb

Dr Lachlan Robb is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Law within the Faculty of Business and Law at Queensland University of Technology. His research focuses on the socio-legal dimensions to technology, with particular emphasis on technology law, blockchain law, innovation law, contract law, ethnography and socio-legal studies. He examines the social, legal and technical regulations of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain, drawing on ethnographic and socio-legal research methods to explore the normative orders that shape the activities of tech start-ups, law firms and regulators.

Lachlan Robb completed his PhD at Queensland University of Technology, conducting an investigation into a blockchain technology start-up and how this technology potentially disrupts legal and normative orders. He holds a Bachelor of Laws with honours from Griffith University on the Gold Coast. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and English from the University of New South Wales at the Australian Defence Force Academy, where he completed officer training and served in the Royal Australian Air Force before beginning his legal and academic career. His honours work involved a jurisprudence-based Systematic Quantitative Literature Review. He teaches in areas including contract law and contributes to research in other law and legal studies fields.
