Laura Prosser is an Assistant Professor of Accounting in the School of Business at Black Hills State University, where she joined the faculty on August 15, 2002. She currently serves as Interim Dean of the School of Business, overseeing business programs across the Spearfish and Rapid City campuses. Previously, she coordinated business programs at the University Center-BHSU in Rapid City. Her office is located in Meier Hall 302 on the Spearfish campus, with phone contact at 605.642.6135.
Prosser earned her Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) from the University of South Dakota. She holds professional certifications as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA). Her research interests include accounting, data analytics, and ethics. Prosser serves as the internship coordinator for the School of Business, facilitating student experiential learning. She has advised student organizations, including the Accounting Club, contributing to their recognition by the South Dakota Board of Regents. In 2024-2025, she received the Outstanding Teaching Award from Black Hills State University faculty awards and the Excellence in Advising Award from the South Dakota Board of Regents. Prosser has delivered guest presentations, such as webinars on financial topics for community organizations, and participates in university committees.
