Dr. Leon Fisher, BMBS, DMedSci, FRACP, is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Monash University's Peninsula Clinical School. As a consultant gastroenterologist and interventional endoscopist, he holds the position of Head of Endoscopy at Peninsula Health, delivering advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services to South Eastern and Bayside Melbourne communities. His expertise includes general gastroenterology, diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy, management of large polyps with endoscopic mucosal resection, ERCP, EUS, and diseases of the pancreas and biliary tree. Having completed two postgraduate fellowships in interventional endoscopy, Dr. Fisher performs hundreds of complex therapeutic procedures annually.
Dr. Fisher is actively involved in clinical research, with publications including "Cardiopulmonary complications of ERCP in older patients" (Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, 2006), "Endoscopic ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration of solid pancreatic masses" (Digestive Endoscopy, 2009), "Prevalence of vitamin K and vitamin D deficiency in patients with non-cholestatic liver disease" (Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 2009), "Endoscopic skills training in a simulated clinical setting" (Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 2011), "Konjac flour noodles associated with gastric outlet obstruction" (Emergency Medicine Australasia, 2018), "Drainage of pancreatic fluid collections using a lumen-apposing metal stent" (Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 2021), and "Conservative management of adult pancreatic haemangioma: case study and literature review" (Journal of Surgical Case Reports, 2021). He contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate medical training and participates in national and international meetings.
