About Levon

Associate Professor Levon Blue is a member of Beausoleil First Nation in Canada and resides in Queensland, Australia. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Waterloo, a Masters (Coursework) in Adult Education & Training from Griffith University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Financial Services (Consumer Education) from Griffith University in 2016, with her thesis focusing on financial literacy education practices in a First Nation community in Canada. Currently, she holds the position of Associate Professor and HDR Coordinator in the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Engagement) at The University of Queensland. In this role, she coordinates courses within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Major. Her research specializations encompass financial education, including financial literacy education, financial capacity building, and financial capabilities, particularly as experienced by Indigenous peoples in Canada and Australia. Blue adopts a critical lens to challenge mainstream deficit approaches in financial education and highlights exploitative and predatory financial practices targeting Indigenous communities. She also investigates pathways to success in higher education for Indigenous students.

Blue has produced 63 scholarly works between 2013 and 2026, as listed on UQ Experts, including 4 books, 34 journal articles, 14 book chapters, and others.
