About Limin

Limin Lu is a Professor at the State Key Laboratory of Systematic and Evolutionary Botany, Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences. She earned a B.S. in Forestry from Beijing Forestry University in 2008 and a Ph.D. in Botany from the Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2014. Her career at the Institute of Botany includes appointments as Assistant Professor from 2014 to 2019, Associate Professor from 2019 to 2022, and Professor since 2022. She has held visiting positions as a visiting researcher at the Department of Botany, National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution from 2010 to 2012 and as a visiting scientist at the National Research Collections Australia, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation from 2015 to 2016.

Lu’s research focuses on plant tree of life reconstruction and biodiversity conservation, with emphasis on the taxonomy, phylogeny, and biogeography of the grape family (Vitaceae). She has contributed to studies on the evolutionary history of the angiosperm flora of China and assessments of flowering plant diversity and conservation priorities. Key publications include the 2018 paper “Evolutionary history of the angiosperm flora of China” in Nature and the 2024 paper “Transition of survival strategies under global climate shifts in the grape family” in Nature Plants.
