Livia de Almeida Alvarenga is a nutritionist and researcher affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP). She holds a PostDoc position at FMUSP, where her work centers on chronic non-communicable diseases, with emphasis on inflammation, oxidative stress, gut microbiota, lipid subfractions, and bioactive compounds in the context of conditions such as chronic kidney disease and hemodialysis.
Alvarenga earned her doctorate in medical sciences, with her thesis recognized by the Best Thesis Award in Life Sciences from the Fluminense Federal University (UFF). She previously completed a master’s degree in health and nutrition from the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP) and holds a specialization in nutrigenomics and nutrigenetics. Her research contributions include studies on the effects of compounds such as Curcuma longa extract and omega-3/omega-6 fatty acids on microbiota, inflammation, and related biomarkers in patient populations. She has presented at conferences including those organized by the Sociedade de Cardiologia do Estado de São Paulo (SOCESP) and received recognition as an honored professor at UFF and as a distinguished graduate from UFOP.
