She also serves as Team Leader for the Heart Exercise & Research Trials (HEART Lab) at St Vincent's Institute of Medical Research, investigating exercise effects on cardiovascular health using advanced testing and imaging.

Paratz's research centers on improving outcomes for cardiac arrest survivors, particularly young and middle-aged individuals, through the establishment of the EndUCD registry linking ambulance and forensic data in Victoria. She contributes to the National Echocardiographic Database of Australia (NEDA) as a Steering Committee member and leads global health initiatives as a World Heart Federation Emerging Leader and Deputy Medical Director of the East Timor Hearts Fund. One of six CASA Designated Aviation Cardiologists in Australia, she provides expert assessments. Her key publications include 'No association between out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and COVID-19 vaccination' (Circulation, 2023), 'Sudden cardiac death in people with schizophrenia: higher risk, poorer resuscitation profiles and differing pathologies' (JACC Clin EP, 2023), 'A systematic review of global autopsy rates in all-cause mortality and young sudden death' (Heart Rhythm, 2023), 'Causes, circumstances and potential preventability of cardiac arrest in the young' (Europace, 2022), and 'The economic impact of sudden cardiac arrest' (Resuscitation, 2021). Awards include the Ralph Reader Clinical Cardiology Prize (2024), Chancellor’s Prize for Excellence in the PhD Thesis (2023), Paul Korner PhD Medal (2022), and Premier’s Award for Clinical Research Finalist (2022). She is an Associate Editor for European Heart Journal Case Reports and Heart, Lung & Circulation, and serves on St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne Ethics Committee, influencing clinical guidelines, survivor care clinics, and international collaborations.
