Rate My Professor Long Vo

Dr. Long Vo is a Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia (UWA) Business School in the Economics discipline and the Planning and Transport Research Centre (PATREC), a collaborative initiative between the Government of Western Australia and local universities dedicated to advancing applied research and teaching in transport and land use planning. He holds an Honorary Research Fellow position in Economics at UWA Business School since March 2016. Long obtained his PhD in Economics from UWA Business School between 2016 and 2020, supported by an Australian Government Postgraduate Research Award. He also holds a Master of Commerce in Finance from Victoria University of Wellington from 2012 to 2014, funded by a New Zealand Government ASEAN Scholar Award, and a Bachelor of Economics from National Economics University from 2006 to 2010. Prior appointments include Research Officer and Teaching Fellow at UWA Business School, Teaching Fellow at the School of Business and Law, Edith Cowan University from March 2020 to June 2021, and Lecturer at the Faculty of Finance, Banking and Business Administration, Quy Nhon University, Vietnam from 2010 to 2015.

Long Vo's academic interests center on international trade, finance, and macroeconomics. His research involves modeling global demand for energy, food, and agricultural commodities, examining currency misvaluation, and analyzing financial asset pricing through high-frequency return and volatility structures. He explores the interplay between technological innovation, intangible capital investment, and transport networks driving structural economic transformation and productivity growth. At PATREC, he contributed to a Western Australian Department of Transport-funded project assessing working-from-home practices during the COVID-19 pandemic as a demand management tool for transport congestion and its productivity implications. Long has produced 43 research outputs, including publications in leading journals such as the Journal of Economic Surveys ('The purchasing power parity and exchange-rate economics half a century on', 2023), Review of Income and Wealth ('Understanding International Price and Consumption Disparities', 2023), World Economy ('COVID-19 Test-kit Trade and Trade Policy: Implications for Developing Countries', 2022), and Energy Economics ('Eatery, energy, environment and economic system, 1970–2017: Understanding volatility spillover patterns in a global sample', 2021).
