Lucy Martin is a Lecturer in the School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry in the Faculty of Humanities at Curtin University. She possesses more than 17 years of professional experience in journalism. Her career began as a newspaper cadet in regional New South Wales. In 2010, she relocated to Western Australia to work for ABC News, serving in Broome, Karratha, and Perth. Lucy then spent six years with the BBC in London and Singapore, traveling internationally to report stories. She returned to Perth in 2021 to start a family and rejoined ABC News as chief of staff and senior reporter. Concurrently, she teaches practical journalism courses at Curtin University, including Multimedia News Production, Radio News, Video News, and Newswriting and Reporting. Her industry experience enriches student learning by providing real-world insights into news production and reporting.
