Luiz Max Fagundes de Carvalho is a lecturer at the School of Applied Mathematics (EMAp) at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He holds a bachelor's degree in Microbiology and Immunology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), awarded in 2012, and a PhD in Evolutionary Biology from the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom, completed in 2018.
His academic interests center on Bayesian statistics applied to the biosciences. This includes work on Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods for discrete spaces, techniques for combining probability distributions, and statistical modeling in epidemiology, medicine, genetics, and related fields. His areas of focus encompass Bayesian inference, biostatistics, and Markov Chain Monte Carlo methods.
