About Luong

Dr. Luong Luong is a Lecturer in Finance at the UQ Business School in the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Queensland. He obtained his PhD in Banking and Finance from the University of New South Wales Business School. Before joining UQ in 2019, he was a Lecturer in Finance at RMIT University starting from 2018. In his role at UQ, he teaches substantial finance courses in the Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business Management, Master of Commerce, and Master of Business programs. Luong has mentored numerous honours students to first-class honours outcomes, including University Medal recipients, and his supervisees have earned full PhD scholarships at leading Australian business schools such as the University of Sydney, UQ, Adelaide, and Monash.

His research focuses on empirical corporate finance, emphasizing corporate governance, firm innovation, and sustainable finance. Luong's scholarship is featured in premier outlets like Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Corporate Finance, Management Science, and Pacific-Basin Finance Journal. Prominent publications include "How do foreign institutional investors enhance firm innovation?" (Luong et al., 2017, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, 611+ citations), "Does takeover activity affect stock price crash risk?
