Dr. Lyle A. Witt serves as Associate Professor and Chair of the Division of Education & Professional Studies at God’s Bible School and College in Cincinnati, Ohio, a position he has held since 2010. His academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies with a concentration in Missional Leadership from Johnson University in 2023, an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction focused on English as a Second Language from the University of Kansas in 2004, and a B.A. in Religion, Missions from Kansas City College & Bible School in 1999. Before joining God’s Bible School and College, Witt worked as a pool lecturer at the Applied English Center of the University of Kansas from 2009 to 2010, teaching speaking, listening, reading, and writing courses to international students. He also held multiple adjunct roles at Johnson County Community College from 2004 to 2009, instructing in ESL writing skills, short stories, reading and vocabulary, study skills, idioms and slang, reading skills improvement, and life skills English. Earlier, from 2001 to 2004, he served as an ESL aide in the Shawnee Mission School District, providing tutoring and lab instruction.
At God’s Bible School and College, Witt teaches both on-campus and online courses such as Basic Grammar & Composition, English Composition I and II, Public Speaking, Modern English Grammar, Introduction to TESOL, Introduction to Church & Family Leadership, Interpersonal Communications, Doctrine & Practice of Missions, and Field Studies in Missions. As division chair, he leads departmental meetings, accreditation efforts for teacher licensure, redesigned the missionary training program, developed the study-abroad program, plans division activities and retreats, and serves as an academic advisor. He has contributed to college-wide accreditation self-study and ad hoc strategic planning committees, led a student discipleship group, hosted international dinners, and presented on topics including Ministry Now & Later, PowerPoint vs. Prezi, Who is My Neighbor, Crossing Cultures, Generation Next, Building a Prezi, Group Discussion on Vocation, Turnitin, and Worldview Seminar. Witt’s doctoral dissertation, titled "Assessing Undergraduate Missions Programs Effectiveness in Preparing Graduates for Cross-Cultural Ministry" (2023), develops a validated instrument to evaluate undergraduate missions training in biblical higher education for cross-cultural ministry preparation. He has also written devotionals for Opening the Word since 2015 and participated in professional organizations like Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages.
