About M. Murtaza

Prof. Dr. M. Murtaza Yousaf serves as Professor and Chairman of the Department of Software Engineering within the Faculty of Computing & Information Technology at Punjab University College of Information Technology (PUCIT), University of the Punjab, Lahore. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Innsbruck, Austria, between 2004 and 2008, achieving the highest grade of "sehr gut." His academic journey at the University of the Punjab includes a Masters in Computer Science (1999-2001, O.P.M. 83.00%, first position), Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science (1998-1999, O.P.M. 84.57%, first position), Masters in Statistics (Part I, 1997-1998, 79.33%, first position), and B.Sc. in Mathematics A&B and Statistics (1994-1996, first position in college). Yousaf joined PUCIT as Lecturer from June 2002 to October 2004, teaching Data Structures & Algorithms and Automata Theory, and contributing to program structure development. He rejoined as Assistant Professor in January 2009, advancing to his current professorial role, where he teaches Computer Networks, Advanced Operating Systems, and guides MS student research.

His research specializes in network support for grid computing, extracting network properties via measurements to aid grid scheduling, alongside blockchain consensus algorithms, big data frameworks, intrusion detection in software-defined networks, and NoSQL/NewSQL systems.
