About Madhvi

Dr Madhvi Menon is a Senior Research Fellow in the Division of Immunology, Immunity to Infection and Respiratory Medicine at the University of Manchester. Her research focuses on understanding how tissue-infiltrating B cells interact with the surrounding microenvironment and promote inflammation in chronic respiratory diseases and autoimmunity. She leads an independent research group as a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow and serves as Deputy Branch Lead for Cellular Immunology at the Lydia Becker Institute of Immunology and Inflammation. Dr Menon accepts PhD students and contributes to projects on cellular dynamics in chronic lung disease.

She completed her PhD in Immunology at University College London in 2015, investigating the crosstalk between B cells and plasmacytoid dendritic cells in systemic lupus erythematosus. Prior to joining the University of Manchester, she conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School, identifying inflammatory pathways in age-related macular degeneration, and at University College London, examining intestinal barrier dysfunction in rheumatoid arthritis. Her work has resulted in multiple peer-reviewed publications on topics including lymphocyte alterations in myasthenia gravis, regulatory B cells in respiratory health, and immune profiling in COVID-19 and lupus.
