Rate My Professor Mafor Penn

Mafor Penn is an associate professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Johannesburg, affiliated with the Centre for Advanced Learning Technology in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (CALTSTEAM) and the Department of Mathematics, Science and Technology Education. She holds a Ph.D. in Science Education, a Master of Education in Science Education with distinction, and a BSc in Biochemistry with upper honours. Prior to joining the University of Johannesburg, she spent eight years teaching Natural Sciences, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematics and Technology at high schools in South Africa.

Her research focuses on technology-enhanced science education, with particular emphasis on the affordances of virtual and augmented reality in science teaching and learning, simulation-enhanced science learning, and inquiry-based science education. She has published her work in reputable journals and presented at national and international conferences including SAARMSTE, ISTE, ICET, ICPE, ICESS and END. Penn serves as associate professor in science education and contributes to advancements in the field through her academic appointments and research activities at the University of Johannesburg.
