About Manmeet

Professor Manmeet Kaur serves as Professor in the Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Panjab University (1977), a Master of Arts in Sociology from Panjab University (1979), a Master of Arts in Economics from Punjabi University (1983), an MPhil from Punjabi University, a Diploma in Nutrition and Health Education from Indira Gandhi National Open University (1996), and a PhD from Panjab University (1997). Her academic career at PGIMER has focused on health promotion and social demography, with research interests including gender and health.

Professor Kaur has led numerous extramural and departmental projects on topics such as HIV prevention and control, reproductive and child health communication strategies, impact evaluation of behavior change communication activities, and studies on health service utilization and client satisfaction. She maintains memberships in professional bodies including the Indian Public Health Association, the International Union for Health Promotion and Education, and the Indian Association for Social Sciences and Health. Her honors include a merit scholarship for her graduate course. Key publications include works on economic analysis of primary health care delivery, decentralization of health services, and gender differences in health care seeking behavior, appearing in journals such as PLoS One and the Indian Journal of Community Medicine. She has contributed to book chapters on health communication and women’s health issues.
