Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma serves as Professor of Clinical Psychology in the Department of Clinical Psychology at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS). He coordinates the SHUT Clinic (Service for Healthy Use of Technology) at the NIMHANS Centre for Well-Being, recognized as India’s first dedicated technology de-addiction clinic. His work centers on behavioral addictions related to technology, including internet gaming disorder, problematic internet use, mobile phone addiction, and associated psychosocial impacts on children, adolescents, and adults.
Dr. Sharma has authored or co-authored more than 270 publications, with research appearing in peer-reviewed journals such as Industrial Psychiatry Journal, Indian Journal of Psychiatry, and others. His contributions address clinical profiling of gaming disorders, management strategies for gadget addiction, effects of yoga interventions, policies on internet use among youth, and psychometric evaluations of related scales. He participates in public discussions and media on healthy technology use and has been involved in national-level dialogues on online gaming addiction and digital well-being.
