Professor Margaret Jones is the Director of Research Services at Edith Cowan University, a position she has held for over a decade. In this university-wide role, she leads portfolios encompassing research governance, administration, systems and performance, ethics and integrity, graduate research students, engagement, and impact. Previously serving as Director of the Office of Research and Innovation, Jones provides strategic and operational support for research funding, grant applications, contracts, ethics approvals, data analytics, researcher training, and commercialisation opportunities. Her transition from frontline medical research to research administration reflects her passion for research leadership and best practice in higher education governance.

As an internationally successful medical researcher, she published more than 70 journal articles during her tenure at institutions including Monash University, Prince Henry’s Institute of Medical Research, The University of Western Australia, and in the Middle East. At Edith Cowan University, she has served on the University Council as a non-academic staff elected member, attending meetings diligently, and contributed to various boards and state and national committees. In August 2025, she was appointed to the Western Australian Government's Science and Technology Council, a prestigious body advising on the 10-Year Science and Technology Plan to drive sector growth through cross-disciplinary collaborations, priorities, opportunities, and challenges.
