She began her professional journey in 1985 as a reporter for The Press in Christchurch. Clark advanced to feature writing for various magazines, gaining recognition for her engaging storytelling. She then worked in the press office for Greenpeace UK in London, handling media relations for environmental campaigns. Returning to New Zealand, she served as communications director for Greenpeace NZ, leading strategic communication efforts for the organization.
In addition to her early roles, Clark edited the Central Otago Mirror, contributed articles to North and South magazine, and freelanced for numerous publications, demonstrating her adaptability across print media formats. At the University of Otago, prior to her current position, she edited the staff Bulletin for 14 years and contributed to the University of Otago Annual Report. In her role, she crafts communications for alumni engagement, development initiatives, and university newsroom articles, often providing kōrero on key events, donations, and milestones such as the 150th anniversary celebrations.
