Dr. Maria Agee serves as Assistant Professor of Instructional Design and Technology in the College of Education, Health and Human Performance at Fairmont State University, joining the faculty in 2023. She holds the role of Program Coordinator for the Master of Education in Instructional Design and Technology, a fully online 30-credit-hour program designed for professionals aiming to advance their expertise in creating, managing, and leading modern learning experiences. The program emphasizes instructional design theory, educational technology, online learning design, curriculum development, and learning technologies, featuring small class sizes, faculty with academic and professional backgrounds, and applied learning focused on real-world relevance. Fairmont State University is committed to supporting veterans, active-duty military, and diverse students through this initiative.
Dr. Agee possesses an Ed.D. from Indiana University Bloomington, MLS from Fort Hays State University, B.Ed. from Shakarim State University of Semey, and B.A. from Pittsburgh State University. As a Quality Matters (QM) Certified Peer Reviewer, she supports quality standards for online education at the institution. Dr. Agee contributes to professional development via university events, including the Lunch and Learn presentation 'From Zero to OER Hero: A Beginner's Guide to Open Educational Resources' held on January 20. In her capacity as GlobalWV Academic Coordinator, she collaborated on a project that secured funding to promote international education within the Fairmont State community. She also represented the university at the West Virginia State Capitol, sharing information on the Instructional Design and Technology Program with students, staff, and supporters.
