Maria Golubovskaya, Ph.D., CPA, serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Tourism and Marketing at Griffith University Business School. She obtained her Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Queensland between 2016 and 2022, with her doctoral research centered on youth employment. Prior to her appointment at Griffith University, Golubovskaya held positions as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and PhD Candidate at the University of Queensland Business School, and earlier as an Associate Lecturer. Her academic journey also includes a Master's degree from the University of Queensland. As a Certified Practising Accountant, she brings professional expertise to her teaching and research in service industries.
Golubovskaya's research specializations encompass young service workers, disability employment, hospitality workforce dynamics, service worker wellbeing, and youth employment, often utilizing mixed methods approaches. She is affiliated with the Griffith Institute for Tourism and the Centre for Work, Organisation and Wellbeing. Her scholarly contributions include key publications such as 'Research on service frontline employees: a science-practice perspective' published in the Journal of Service Management in 2023, co-authored with David Solnet and others; 'The influence of diversity management initiatives on firm-level diversity and financial performance' in the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management in 2023; 'Meaning of work: Gen Z's perspective' forthcoming in the Journal of Youth Studies in 2026 with Malinvisa Sakdiyakorn and David Solnet; 'Recalibrating talent management for hospitality: a youth development perspective' in 2019; and 'The Missing Voice of Adolescent Service Workers: A Qualitative Study' presented in 2023. Golubovskaya has served as a guest editor for a special issue of the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Management on reframing hospitality and tourism workforce research. She contributes to applied projects including the Project SEARCH Evaluation Survey and Inclusive Futures initiative at Griffith University, focusing on disability-inclusive employment and sustainable tourism practices. Additionally, she convenes courses such as Fundamentals of Hospitality (1003THS) and others in tourism and hospitality management.
