Morey's research focuses on 20th-century U.S. history, history of U.S. philanthropy, African American intellectual history, history of the social sciences, and U.S. legal history. She is the author of the book White Philanthropy: Carnegie Corporation’s An American Dilemma and the Making of a White World Order (University of North Carolina Press, 2021). Key publications include chapters such as “Power of the Purse: How ‘the Philanthropic North’ Has Helped Determine Which Individuals, Groups, and Ideas in the Black Freedom Struggle Will Thrive Nationally” in In Between and Across: Legal History Without Boundaries (Oxford University Press, 2024) and “W.E.B.
