Mark Kutame serves as Professor of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at Chicago State University, having joined the faculty in 2000. He holds a Ph.D. from Ohio State University. Dr. Kutame is the Chairperson of the Department of Health Education, Physical Education, and Recreation, where he is a graduate faculty member alongside Sarah Buck, Robert Szyman, and Edward Reed. The department under his leadership provides undergraduate degrees such as the Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Bachelor of Science in Recreation, as well as graduate programs including the Master of Science in Education in Physical Education and post-baccalaureate teacher licensure in physical education.
In addition to his administrative and teaching responsibilities, Mark Kutame contributes to academic advising within the College of Education at Chicago State University. His office is located in JDC-217, and he can be reached at extension 3650. Dr. Kutame has been acknowledged for his enduring impact as an educator and community leader, receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award in March 2026 from the Ghanaian community for his roles as scholar, mentor, and cultural guardian.
