Rate My Professor Mark McGlothlin

In his career at the University of Florida, McGlothlin has contributed to numerous initiatives advancing architectural education and practice. He participated in the UF Solar Decathlon team, which won the public choice award for web in 2010. In 2025, he received a $2.5 million U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Research Award, in collaboration with Bradley Walters and Jason Ries, for a community housing project in Alaska's Native Village of Tyonek, focusing on repairing and renewing homes. McGlothlin has been recognized with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Service Member Patriot Award. His scholarly work includes co-authoring 'Influencing Design Through Dynamic Particle Simulation' with John Maze and Kim Tanzer. He has chaired master's research projects on topics such as suburban Florida's vernacular identity, visual narratives in existing spaces, fashion and architecture correlations, and Sun Life Stadium site re-design. Additionally, he contributed to projects like the RE:FOCUSed Florida Cracker house charrette and the D3 Ruins Project. McGlothlin's office is located in Antevy Hall 266, and he maintains an active role in faculty governance and accreditation efforts within the college.
