Professor Masatoshi Furuta is a professor in the Nursing Department of the Faculty of Nursing at Chukyo Gakuin University. He holds a Master of Medical Sciences from Kurume University. His research specializations are Basic Nursing and Nursing Education, focusing on nursing education utilizing ICT. Furuta is a member of the Japan Society of Nursing Education, Japan Society of Nursing Research, Japan Society of Nursing Science, and Educational System Information Society. He teaches courses including Introduction to Nursing, Basic Nursing Theory, Infection Nursing, Nursing Informatics, Nursing Assistance Technology I and II, Physical Assessment, Basic Nursing Practice I and II, and Graduation Research.
In his career at Chukyo Gakuin University, Furuta advanced from assistant professor to professor. His research encompasses development of e-learning content for nursing techniques, multi-perspective video applications for nursing skills, support for students with developmental disabilities, and disaster support programs for children with developmental disabilities and families. He led the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (Young Researcher B) project "Development of Nursing Skills E-Learning Content Using Instructional Design" (2009-2011) as principal investigator. Current projects include "Development and Evaluation of a Multi-View Video Application for Nursing Skills Using Simultaneous 6-Perspective Shooting" (2021-2024) and "Construction of a Program to Support Children with Developmental Disabilities and Their Families in Disasters" (2021-2024).
