His research, writing, and teaching center on practical theology, encompassing ethics, homiletics, and poimenics. Dr. Jackson investigates the practical arts of preaching and the church’s pastoral vocation to the larger community, particularly the reconciliation of communities grappling with racism, sexism, classism, and similar issues. He employs tools of theological reflection, moral evaluation, and cultural investigation in his study of ministry practice. Notable peer-reviewed publications include “Shepherding Public Discourse Practices: Homiletic Form Aligned to the Logic Operative in Racial Rhetoric and Public Theological Discourse for Secular Liberal Democracies” in Cultural and Religious Studies (September 2016), “Causality Principle as the Framework to Contextualize Time in Modern Physics” in International Journal of Humanities and Social Science Invention (June 2016), and “The Heresy Tertullian Overlooked: On Prescription against the Apologist’s Use of Rhetoric” in Spes Christiana (2011-2012). Additional contributions appear in online scholarly journals, popular periodicals such as Adventist Today and Spectrum Magazine, and web articles addressing topics like moral education, Adventist history, and creation theology. Dr. Jackson has received the 2006 Silver Angel Award and the 2017 Anness Haddad Award. He also appeared as a dialogue cast member in the film Enough Room at the Table (2016).
