Dr Max Kluger is a research associate and postdoctoral researcher in the School of Science at the University of Waikato. He works on the Tephra-Seismites project, investigating seismically induced structures in tephra layers and related earthquake hazards in the Waikato region.
His research interests include the role of halloysite clay minerals in sensitivity development in soils, soil mechanics of sand and clay, coastal engineering geology, and landslide initiation processes. He earned his PhD through the INTERCOAST program at the University of Bremen in collaboration with the University of Waikato.
