Prof. Md. Anisur Rahman serves as Professor of Philosophy in the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Languages at Bangladesh Open University, where he chairs the Philosophy Curriculum Committee for BA, BA (Honours), and MA programs. He obtained his M.A. by Thesis in Philosophy from Jahangirnagar University in 1989, with the thesis titled "Environmental Ethics: A Creative Synthesis." His B.A. with Honours, majoring in Philosophy and minoring in History and Political Science, was also from Jahangirnagar University in 1988. He completed his Higher Secondary Certificate from M. M. College, Jessore in 1983, and Secondary School Certificate from Sarsha Pilot High School, Jessore in 1981.
Prof. Rahman's professional career at Bangladesh Open University commenced as Lecturer in Philosophy on 15 September 1994, advancing to Assistant Professor on 11 October 1998, Associate Professor on 23 September 2008, and Professor on 18 May 2018. Previously, he was Lecturer and Head of the Department of Philosophy at Ideal College, Dhaka from 16 August 1993 to 14 September 1994. He holds positions as a member of the Academic Council and has served multiple times as Registrar (In Charge). His research interests include Land Ethics, Animal Ethics, Environmental Ethics, Environmental Theology, Environmental Humanities, and Islamic Feminism. Key publications feature co-authored bachelor-level textbooks such as "Introduction to Philosophy" (2001), "Epistemology and Metaphysics" (2002), "Logic: Traditional and Symbolic" (2003), and "Muslim Philosophy" (2005), published by BOU's Printing, Publishing and Distribution Division. Refereed journal articles span ethics, environmental issues, distance education, and Qur’anic perspectives on women, published in outlets like The Journal of Social Science and Humanities, Copula, Anwesan, and Jiban Dorshan between 2001 and 2021.
