Rate My Professor Md Rahman

Dr. Md Motiur Rahman is an Associate Professor of Petroleum Engineering in the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at Khalifa University. He joined the university in 2010. Prior to this appointment, he served as Senior Lecturer of Petroleum Engineering at the University of Adelaide from 2008 to 2010. He held positions as Associate Professor and Assistant Professor of Petroleum Engineering at UAE University between 2004 and 2008, and as Lecturer at the University of Adelaide from 2004 to 2008. Earlier roles include Teaching and Research Assistant at the University of New South Wales and Engineering Tutor/Geothermal Engineer at the University of Auckland. He also accumulated approximately seven years of industry experience in oil, gas, and geothermal energy sectors.

Dr. Rahman earned a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of New South Wales in 2002, a Master of Engineering in Petroleum Engineering from the same institution in 1993, a Graduate Diploma in Petroleum Engineering in 1990, a Diploma in Geothermal Energy Technology from the University of Auckland in 1994, and a Bachelor of Technology in Mining Engineering from Banaras Hindu University in 1985. His research interests include well stimulation by acidizing and hydraulic fracturing, unconventional resources, and enhanced and improved oil and gas recovery. He has authored or co-authored over 90 journal and conference papers, holds a patent on advanced electrokinetic oil recovery, and is a life member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, where he has co-chaired technical sessions. He received the R&D Research Top Ideas Award in 2014 and the R&D Lantern Faculty Award in 2012 from ADNOC Oil & Gas Sub Committees. He teaches courses such as Completion and Workover, Production Engineering, Well Stimulation, and Advanced Well Test Analysis.
