He earned a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Perugia in 2012, an MSc in Theoretical Computer Science from the École normale supérieure de Lyon in 2014, an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Bologna in 2015, and a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Manchester in 2019. Prior to his current role, Fasi worked as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Manchester and as a Wenner–Gren Foundations fellow at Örebro University in Sweden. He also held the position of Assistant Professor in Scientific Computing at Durham University.
Fasi’s research centres on numerical linear algebra, computer arithmetic and mathematical software. He maintains active memberships in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the International Linear Algebra Society, the National Group of Scientific Computing of INdAM, the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics and the Unione Matematica Italiana.
