Mica Dawn Gould is an Associate Professor of English at Grambling State University, serving in the Department of English and Foreign Languages with a focus on Literature. She holds a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from Purdue University, where she completed her doctoral dissertation titled “Reading Romance in Fourteenth-Century London: A Crisis of Interpretation” in 2006. A skilled medievalist, Dr. Gould can read more than ten medieval languages and their dialects. Her research specializations include medieval literature and languages, on which she has published a variety of articles. Additional academic interests and expertise encompass technical writing, fiction writing, linguistics, comparative mythology, ancient literature, and cultures. She has organized and presided over panels at the International Congress on Medieval Studies, the primary conference for medievalists.
Dr. Gould has contributed to key institutional initiatives at Grambling State University, including helping secure National Endowment for the Humanities grant AB-269212-20, approved for $92,919 from February 1, 2020, to January 31, 2023, to develop an interdisciplinary minor in Digital Humanities. In this project, involving the English and History departments, she authored the ENG 413: Online Writing course. The grant supported faculty training workshops, public lectures, library acquisitions for digital humanities resources, and new courses such as History 375: Digital Methods for the Geospatial Analysis of the Past and HUM 275: Introduction to Digital Humanities. Dr. Gould works with students on grant research. University directories and catalogs, including the 2024-2026 General Catalog, list her as Associate Professor in English and Foreign Languages.
