Michael Jury is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Florida, where he holds the position of Associate Chair and Graduate Coordinator in the Department of Mathematics. He specializes in analysis. Jury received his PhD in Mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis in 2002, under the advisement of John McCarthy. His doctoral dissertation, titled "Matrix products and interpolation problems in Hilbert function spaces," addressed key issues in Hilbert function spaces. He joined the University of Florida faculty in Fall 2005 as a tenure-track assistant professor and has since advanced to full professor.
Jury's research interests include noncommutative function theory, operator theory, complex analysis, random matrix theory, and free probability. His work explores composition operators on Hardy spaces, C*-algebras generated by groups of composition operators, ideal structures in free semigroupoid algebras from directed graphs, reproducing kernels and de Branges-Rovnyak spaces, Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation on distinguished varieties in the bidisk, factorization in weak products of complete Pick spaces, non-commutative rational functions in the full Fock space, and non-commutative Clark measures for Toeplitz algebras. Selected publications comprise "Composition operators on Hardy spaces of a half-plane" with S. Elliott (Bulletin of the London Mathematical Society, 2012), "Ideal structure in free semigroupoid algebras from directed graphs" with D.W. Kribs (Journal of Operator Theory, 2005), "Reproducing kernels, de Branges-Rovnyak spaces, and norms of weighted composition operators" (Proceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 2007), "Nevanlinna–Pick interpolation on distinguished varieties in the bidisk" with G. Knese and S. McCullough (Journal of Functional Analysis, 2012), "C*-algebras generated by groups of composition operators" (Indiana University Mathematics Journal, 2007), and "Factorization in weak products of complete Pick spaces" with R.T.W. Martin (Bulletin of the London Mathematical Society, 2019). Jury serves on the editorial board of Operators and Matrices and has presented seminars on topics such as free versions of the Strong Szegő Limit Theorem.
