Michael P. Veve, PharmD, MPH, serves as Associate Professor (Clinical) in the Department of Pharmacy Practice within the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Wayne State University. Concurrently, he practices as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Infectious Diseases at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan. Veve earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2014, completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at Henry Ford Hospital in 2015, pursued a Fellowship in Infectious Diseases Outcomes Research at Henry Ford Hospital/Wayne State University in 2017, and obtained a Master of Public Health from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 2020. Prior to his current roles starting in 2020, he held a position as Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy from 2017 to 2020.

Veve's primary research interests include the implementation and assessment of novel antimicrobial stewardship interventions; epidemiology and outcomes of multi-drug resistant pathogens; antimicrobial optimization in specialized patient populations; and prevention and treatment optimization of infections due to injection-drug use. His areas of expertise are antimicrobial stewardship and public health practice. He has contributed chapters including "Infectious Diseases" (Chapter 33) and "Anti-infective agents" (Chapter 34) to The APhA Complete Review for Pharmacy, 13th edition (2022). Key peer-reviewed publications encompass "Effectiveness of ceftazidime-avibactam versus ceftolozane-tazobactam for multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections in the USA (CACTUS): a multicentre, retrospective, observational study" in The Lancet Infectious Diseases (2025); "Ceftolozane/Tazobactam vs Polymyxin or Aminoglycoside-based Regimens for the Treatment of Drug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa" (2020); "Cephalosporins: a focus on side chains and β-lactam cross-reactivity" (2019); and "Guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis, and management of urinary tract infections in pediatrics and adults: a WikiGuidelines group consensus statement" (2024). Veve co-directs the PGY2/3 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Fellowship in Antimicrobial Stewardship jointly offered by Wayne State University and Henry Ford Hospital. He was awarded a $55,000 grant by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan for his study "Equity of Oral Antimicrobial Therapy in Hospitalized People with Injection-Drug use related Infection who elect for Self-directed Discharge: A Mixed-methods Study with Pilot Intervention."
