A true expert who inspires confidence.
Mikhail Evgenievich Lustenkov serves as Rector and concurrently as Professor in the Department of Fundamentals of Machine Design at Belarusian-Russian University since January 16, 2019. Born in 1974 in Mogilev, he graduated with honors from the Mogilev Mechanical Engineering Institute in 1997, specializing in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Metal-Cutting Machine Tools, and Tools. He earned the degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences in 2001, was promoted to Associate Professor in 2003, obtained the Doctor of Technical Sciences degree in 2015, and became a full Professor in 2017. His career at the university progressed from assistant and senior lecturer in the Department of Theoretical Mechanics to associate professor, Head of the International Students Sector, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Automotive Engineering, Vice-Rector for Research, and First Vice-Rector prior to his appointment as Rector. Lustenkov's research specializations encompass the theory, calculation, and design of compact energy-efficient drives, including novel mechanical transmissions with intermediate rolling elements, spherical mechanisms, and computer modeling of technical systems. As Scientific Director of the Mechanical Drive Systems Testing Laboratory, he has authored over 300 scientific works, including eight monographs such as 'Planetary Ball Transmissions of Cylindrical Type' (2005) and 'Transmissions with Intermediate Rolling Bodies: Determination and Minimization of Power Losses' (2010), three study guides, and holds 44 patents for inventions and utility models. He has supervised two Candidates of Technical Sciences and serves as a member of two dissertation councils in Belarus (K.02.18.01 and D.02.18.01) and the Higher Attestation Commission under the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia since 2019.
Throughout his career, Lustenkov has received major awards, including the Special Prize of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee (2008), Presidential Scholarship for talented young scientists (2016), 'Excellence in Education' badge from the Ministry of Education of Belarus (2021), and the honorary title 'Honored Worker of Education of the Russian Federation' (2021). Other honors include Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Education of Belarus (2011, 2016) and the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee (2021).
