Dr. Lukman Mohd Rashid serves as a Senior Lecturer at the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Monash University Malaysia. He completed his undergraduate studies at Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur in 1994, earning an MBBS. He obtained his Master's Degree in General Surgery from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), graduating as the best surgical candidate of 2001. He underwent training in Advanced Endoscopy and Gastroenterology at Soon Chun Hyang University Hospital in Seoul, Korea, and completed a year-long intensive training in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at the Institute of Laparoscopic Surgery, Bordeaux, France in 2005.
Dr. Rashid's career commenced with housemanship at Hospital Ipoh, followed by service as a medical officer in the Department of Anaesthesia at Hospital Kuala Terengganu. He began his surgical career in 1997 in the Department of Surgery at Hospital Kuala Terengganu. After his Master's, he joined Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia as a lecturer, progressing to Senior Lecturer and then Associate Professor of Surgery. In January 2009, he became fractional staff at Monash University Malaysia, holding his current Senior Lecturer position. He practices as a Consultant General, Gastrointestinal, and Laparoscopic Surgeon at Avisena Specialist Hospital in Shah Alam, Selangor. His research specializations encompass advanced laparoscopic surgery, including abdominal wall hernia repairs, upper gastrointestinal surgeries, and bariatric surgeries. He has participated in and organized numerous domestic and international scientific meetings and workshops on laparoscopic and bariatric surgeries, and has authored multiple publications in national and international medical journals. Notable publications include 'Acute Appendicitis' and 'Inguinal Hernia', both co-authored with Yogarabindranath Swarna Nantha in the 2025 book Screen, Diagnose, Manage and Monitor: A GP Primer to Common Clinical Problems, published by Springer.
