Monica Barkman serves as the Online MBA Development Manager within the management team of the Otago MBA programme at the University of Otago Business School. In this capacity, she oversees the ongoing development of the Online MBA to position it as a world-class offering. Her key responsibilities include establishing and maintaining an integrated online learning environment tailored for teaching staff and students. She collaborates closely with lecturers to guarantee the smooth and effective delivery of the Online MBA curriculum. As part of the executive programmes team, she contributes to outreach, student recruitment, admissions processes, career development support, and academic guidance initiatives aimed at upholding international standards for the MBA.
Prior to her current role, Monica Barkman was employed as an ITS Senior Customer Service Representative at the University of Otago. She possesses a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree from the University of Otago and a Diploma in Teaching, with a specialisation in Early Childhood Education (ECE), from the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand. A New Zealander by origin, she applies her professional expertise across multiple domains including IT, teaching, research, management, and customer service. Monica Barkman appreciates the diversity encountered in the MBA programme, where she engages with individuals from varied professional and cultural backgrounds worldwide. She derives satisfaction from aiding them in attaining their objectives within a stimulating and collaborative university setting.
