About Morteza

Dr. Morteza Namvar is a Senior Lecturer in Business Information Systems at the UQ Business School, University of Queensland. He holds a BSc in Computer Engineering from Shahed University, Iran, an MSc in IT Management from Allameh Tabataba'i University, Iran, and a PhD in Business Intelligence from Deakin University. Prior to joining UQ, Namvar was a PhD researcher and sessional lecturer at Deakin University. At UQ, he is affiliated with the Centre for the Business and Economics of Health and contributes to key research projects such as Harnessing Agentic AI to Identify Hospital-in-the-Home Patients, Predicting Emergency Facilities to Suit Patients' Clinical Needs in Hospital-in-the-Home Programs, and Analysing Members' Feedback Using Machine Learning Techniques. Namvar teaches courses including BISM7217 and BISM3206, and mentors PhD students and honours theses on topics like large language models in misinformation detection and discharge summary applications.

Namvar's research specializations and academic interests center on machine learning, natural language processing, large language models, business intelligence, data mining, predictive analytics, organizational sensemaking, and their applications in business decision-making and healthcare.
