Dr Mostafa R. A. Nabawy is Reader in Aerospace Engineering in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Manchester. He serves as group co-ordinator of the Microsystems research group and leads the Microsystems area of research expertise within the School of Engineering. His responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Aerospace Engineering.
Dr Nabawy holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree from Cairo University and a PhD from the University of Manchester. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). His research focuses on aerodynamics with an emphasis on wings, aircraft design with a focus on drones, and microsystems engineering with a focus on bio-inspired micro-robots. This work draws on insect locomotion and has extended to applications such as decontamination of extreme environments, surveying difficult-to-access locations, artificial pollination, and the development of miniature soft robots inspired by snails for precision medical uses including targeted drug delivery.
