Dr. Motlalepule Nathane-Taulela is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Social Work at the University of the Witwatersrand. She holds a BA in Social Work, an MA in Social Work from the University of the Witwatersrand, and a doctoral degree in Social Work from the same institution. She is a qualified and registered Social Worker with the South African Council for Social Service Professions and has been in academia since 2007.
Her research focuses on father absence and female-headed households, the conceptualization of fathering in African households and societies, gender-based violence and femicide, human rights, and child migration. She is a qualitative researcher who has been selected as an AfOx Fellow for 2025-2026 at the University of Oxford’s Department of Social Policy and Intervention. She also serves as Co-Chair of Advocacy and Community Engagement for FALFAA.
