About Mushtaque

Mushtaque Ahmed is a Professor in the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) at the University of Dhaka, with expertise in Supply Chain and Operations Management within the Business & Economics discipline. He earned his MBA from IBA, University of Dhaka, and a BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Beginning his professional journey after graduating from BUET, he served in the Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Board (BTTB) as part of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Telecom Cadre. For more than a decade, Professor Ahmed has been teaching at IBA, where he applies his extensive experience in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, and Data Analytics. He has bolstered private sector development in Bangladesh through targeted research and consultancy engagements with organizations including SEDF, SDC, Save the Children (UK), and the Industrial Police of Bangladesh. Professor Ahmed enhanced his skills with specialized training in Business Analytics from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta).

His research interests center on Supply Chain and Operations Management, reflected in several key publications. These include “Bridging the Gap between Expectations of the Business Community and Delivery by the Business Schools in Bangladesh” in the Journal of Business Administration (Vol. 26, Nos. 1&2, 2000); a case study titled “Garments and Textile Sectors of Bangladesh: The MFA Missile” in Marketing Practices in Developing Economy - Cases from South Asia (PHI Learning Private Ltd., 2009); "Retesting SERVQUAL Scale Items in Healthcare Service in Bangladesh: a Case Study of a Public Hospital" in South East Asia Journal of Contemporary Business, Economics and Law (Vol. 14, Issue 2, 2017); "Supply Chain Management of Fresh Vegetables in Superstores: A Case Study of Bangladesh" in Social Science Review, The Dhaka University Studies, Part-D (Vol. 33, No. 2, December 201); "Value Chain Inefficiencies and Market Failures in the Agricultural Sector of Bangladesh: A Case Study" in the Journal of Business Administration (Vol. 40, No. 1, 2019); and co-authored "Investment in a Sustainable Future: Targeting Inclusive Human Development with Fiscal Allocation in Education in South-Asia" in the Journal of Business Administration (Vol. 45, No. 1, 2024). Professor Ahmed's work contributes meaningfully to business education, sector-specific analysis, and practical applications in Bangladesh's economy.
