Dr. N. Shenbaga Vinayaga Moorthi serves as Professor and Dean in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Anna University Regional Campus, Tirunelveli. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Refrigeration and Air-conditioning from Madras Institute of Technology, Anna University, awarded in 2006. He also earned an M.E. in Refrigeration and Air-conditioning from College of Engineering, Anna University in 1999 with First Class, and a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Government College of Technology, Bharathiar University in 1994 with First Class.

Possessing over 28 years of experience in academia and industry, Dr. Moorthi's career trajectory includes roles as Engineer at Bharat Engineering Traders (1994-1995), Lecturer at Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Engineering (1995-1997) and Mepco Schlenk Engineering College (1999-2001), Teaching Faculty at Madras Institute of Technology (2001-2005), Lecturer and Assistant Professor at PSG College of Technology (2005-2008), and since September 2008 at Anna University Regional Campus Tirunelveli (formerly Anna University of Technology Tirunelveli), where he progressed from Assistant Professor (2008-2011), Associate Professor (2011-2014), to Professor since September 2014. He has successfully supervised six Ph.D. scholars to completion between 2013 and 2018 on topics including heat transfer, experimental analysis, biodiesel production, and HCCI engines, with three ongoing supervisions in solar energy applications. His research specializations encompass Thermal Engineering, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineering, Internal Combustion Engineering, Energy Engineering, Alternate Fuels, Alternate Energy Systems, and Alternate Materials. Key publications feature "Improved Linearized Breakup Model for the Liquid Sheets Produced by Swirl Atomizers" (Journal of Propulsion and Power, 2016), "Spark-Assisted HCCI Engine using Hydrous Methanol as a Fuel: An ANN Approach" (Biofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, 2015), "Experimental Investigation on Hydrous Methanol Fuelled Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition Engine Using Spark Assisted Method" (International Journal of Engineering, 2015), and "Mechanical Behavior and Wear Prediction of Stir Cast Al–TiB2 Composites" (Materials & Design, 2014). His scholarly contributions have amassed over 1,200 citations. Awards include the Best NSS Unit Award to University VOC College of Engineering Thoothukudi (2014-15) and TNSCST Cash Award of Rs. 5,000 for a student project under his guidance. Administrative contributions involve Zonal Coordinator for Anna University Zone XX since 2018, Member of the Research Board at Centre for Research, Anna University Chennai (2013-2016), and various syndicate and executive committees.
