About Nadia

Nadia Emi Aikawa is a physician and researcher at the Universidade de São Paulo. She holds the position of Médica Assistente in the Discipline of Rheumatology at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo and is affiliated with the Hospital das Clínicas FMUSP and the Instituto da Criança. She earned her medical degree from the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo in 2003, completed residency training in pediatrics at the Instituto da Criança, and obtained her doctorate in medical sciences from the same institution in 2012. Aikawa serves as a professor and advisor in the postgraduate program in Ciências do Sistema Musculoesquelético at FMUSP.

Her research focuses on pediatric rheumatology, with emphasis on biological therapies for pediatric rheumatological diseases, complications in these conditions, and factors associated with disease activity and outcomes in juvenile and adult autoimmune rheumatic diseases, including demographic, clinical-laboratory characteristics, and immunizations. She has contributed to numerous studies on vaccine immunogenicity and safety in patients with autoimmune rheumatic diseases. Aikawa is actively involved in clinical care and research at the Pediatric Rheumatology outpatient clinic and the Center for the Dispensation of High-Complexity Medications (CEDMAC).
