Nágila Raquel Teixeira Damasceno is an Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition at the Faculdade de Saúde Pública of the Universidade de São Paulo (FSP-USP). She earned her undergraduate degree in Nutrition from the Universidade Estadual do Ceará (UECE) in 1995, followed by a master’s degree in 1997 and a doctorate in Food Sciences from the Universidade de São Paulo in 2001. She completed postdoctoral training in Immunology at USP in 2004 and in Nutrition and Endocrinology at the University of Barcelona in 2010.
Damasceno serves as Director of the Division of Nutrition and Dietetics at the Hospital Universitário (HU-USP). She leads the research group OxLIPID, focused on biological oxidations and lipid metabolism applied to chronic non-communicable diseases, and coordinates the Laboratory of Nutritional Biochemistry Applied to Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases. Her research centers on lipid metabolism in chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease, obesity, and cancer, with emphasis on oxidative and inflammatory processes and the effects of nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids. She holds a CNPq Productivity in Research Scholarship at Level 2 and maintains international collaborations with institutions including Harvard University, the University of Barcelona, Umeå University, and the University of Greifswald. She is a member of the Deliberative Council of the Instituto Nacional de Ciência e Tecnologia de Fluidos Complexos (INCT-FCx) and the Núcleo de Apoio à Pesquisa em Fluidos Complexos (NAP-FCx), serves on university committees including the Congregação and the Department of Nutrition Council, and participates in the board of the Department of Nutrition of SOCESP. She is also a scientific advisor to the Conselho Regional de Nutrição (CRN-3) and coordinator of the Brazil-Sweden International Cooperation Program (STINT-CAPES).
